Inaugural 'Battlefields 2 Ballfields' Tournament Attracts Record Field

June 20, 2017

SACRAMENTO, CA -- A record full field of 148 golfers took part in the inaugural 'Battlefields2Ballfields' tournament held June 19 at Del Paso Country Club.

Under the direction of B2B founder Mike Pereira, his wife Gail, and a hard-working corps of volunteers, the tournament was followed by a three-course dinner, a silent auction of sports memorabilia and then a live auction.

Among the offerings up for grabs in the live auction included luxury hotel stays, wine country tours and products, tickets to Northern California sporting events and two trips for two to the FOX Sunday morning NFL pregame show.  This weekend package, which sold separately to two bidders, included a Saturday evening meal for one group with FOX personalities Terry Bradshaw & Jimmy Johnson, while the second package includedformer Raiders star Howie Long and Giants all-pro defensive end Michael Strahan as Saturday dinner companions. Each winning bidder and a guest will then spend all day Sunday on the set of the highly-rated pregame program.

The day-long event raised enough funding for 100 scholarships for Pereira's foundation, which provides assistance to military servicemen and servicewomen transitioning from active duty to careers as sports officials.  The foundation was launched in late February, and already over 300 men and women have applied to the program.

"I cannot say thank you enough to everyone who took part in what we did today," Pereira said.  "That includes our golfers, our corporate sponsors, our dinner attendees, everyone who made bids on items, all those who donated auction items, our wonderful group of volunteers and the tournament's Board of Directors.  Everyone gave  so willingly of their time and expertise to make this tournament a huge success as an inaugural event.  I could not be more pleased."
